About DayZ Standalone
DayZ is a standalone survival horror game. It is a realistic, authentic graphic, open-world horror hybrid of a Massively Multiplayer Online game (MMO). Players all over the world will be streaming the game, and the only goal of the player is to survive.
DayZ is placed at a fictional world that is infected by an unknown plague. This infection has killed the whole population of the world and gives rise to a zombie apocalypse. Only the players of DayZ are the one remaining of the world’s population in this harsh post-apocalyptic landscape.
Gameplay
DayZ does not give built-in tutorials, superficial tips, way points, or help to players. It is up to the players to search through the landscape for means of survival such as food and shelter. They also need to find weapons and ammunition to protect themselves.
Players are the human in the world; therefore, there is no extra life. The only determinant of the game is the player’s decisions for every next step. Players could choose play solo or team up with other players through the voice chat that is allowed in the game. If the player fails, there is no way out, and need to start from the beginning. This is real survival; this is DayZ.
How To Install Mods on Your DayZ server
DayZ is an excellent open-world post-apocalyptic survival, each man has his world. It was a mod in itself, but now it is a standalone title, and suitable for all DayZ fans. However, Mods change the gameplay and make the experience much more enjoyable.
Installing a mod on DayZ Server is simple, but there are different methods for installing some mods, which usually come with instructions and descriptions.
Find A Mod
The first step here of course, is to find a Mod. Go to Steam>community>workshop and choose DayZ, and the mods list should be available just below the game screenshots. The mods will be available under “most popular,” “Most subscribed” and “Most Recent” respectively.
Download the Mod
Choose the Mod, and subscribe to the Mod. Now from here, the steps are simple: go to the library and run the DayZ launcher and click on Mods. Right-click and open folder, and the mod folder should be present.
Do NOT change the directories or alter anything, click on the Mod, and copy the folder. Paste the envelope in both the root directory of the main game and the DayZ server directory.
Go back to Steam> steamapps> Common> DayZ server. In the server folder, open the Multiplayer Missions folder, and then the Subfolder. Inside the Subfolder, there is another folder called “DB,” which stands for Database. Leave this folder open in the background.
Keys
Then open the mod pack and open the “keys” folder. Inside there is a file which should be copied and pasted into the “keys” folder of the root directory.
Spawnables and other mod items:
Now go back to the Mod folder and open “XML files” folder. Open the Redux file as a word document, and starting from the first “<” symbol, copy the whole text till the bottom. Remember, DO not copy the content before the “<” symbol. Go back to the “DB” folder and open the “types” file with word pad, scroll down and paste the content between “ ”. Make sure the copied file starts in a new line and save the file.
This type of content is mostly for spawnable items in mods, so it is necessary to copy and paste any scripts that are included in the mod folder. Remember; always copy the scripts under the required category and the same item type name.
Initiating the Mods
Finally, go back to the Steam Workshop and open the tools panel. Right-click on “DayZ servers” and click on properties. Click on general, then click on “Set Launch Options” and finally, add the Mod. Copy the mod name right after the “=.” Don’t forget to remove any space or punctuations in between the mod folder name. This will reduce the chances of crash or bugs in the Mod.
Once that is complete, run the DayZ server and check if the mods are working. This method applies to most Mods, and that which does not include spawnable items doesn’t need to be code scripts copied. If it does not work, check the mod details and descriptions for any requirements or extra instructions.
